R720 Bios Upgrade issue

Vmware host server R720 currently on bios 2.2.2, attempting to update 2.7.0

formatted USB to fat32, copied bios to USB drive (after renaming it bios270.exe) and inserted USB into server.

pressed F10 during bootup into get into Integrated Lifecycle Controller, select firmware upgrade

Upgrade fails with this error:

"Unable to verify the digital signature of the update package (SUP0525)

recommended action:

download the latest supported update package from your service provider and retry the operation"

what am I doing wrong?

It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. You might try flashing the iDRAC and Lifecycle Controller, first. If it's behind, that could be the problem. For alternate update methods, you could try uploading the update .EXE into the iDRAC under iDRAC settings > Firmware update. There's also the Platform Specific .iso, but that's a much bigger file and download.

@Dell-DylanJ if it is multiple versions behind (BIOS 2.0.19 // iDRAC7-1.46.45), is there another way to update? I've tried quite a few different methods and packages and can't quite get anything to work.

@Dell-DylanJ actually, I think I found it. This seems to be actually working.

I'm going to let it run overnight and see if it worked in the morning. Should be good though. thanks!
