R720 CPU and System board voltage error
Hi,
My server recently shut down for no apparent reason - It gives off the following error messages:
VLT0304 - CPU 1 M23 VDDQ PG Voltage is outside of range - Reseat CPU
VLT0204 - System board voltage is outside of range - Contact support
After looking through the forum I've tried the minimum to post configuration (https://www.dell.com/community/PowerEdge-Hardware-General/VLT0204-System-board-PS2-PG-Fail-voltage-is-outside-of-range/m-p/4564596#M42400)
I've tried changing the CPU and the dimm.
I've tried alternating both the PSUs in both slots to make sure the slot itself wasn't a problem.
Though I do not know how to proceed from here - Any suggestions?
In advance thanks

Doblez,
Just to confirm, did you recently upgrade the memory on the server? If so, if the memory modules are fully compatible, ensure that the option "SYSTEM PROFILE" is set to "PERFORMANCE", also sometimes it is necessary to clear the NVRAM before configuring the System Profile Setting to Performance.
What I would suggest is that you try that and then let me know if it resolves the issue.

Hi Chris,
No, I didn't upgrade my memory or change any settings from the working state to the non-functioning state. I've already tried clearing the NVRAM as well.

Thank you. Would you confirm what the System Profile is set to? If not on performance, if you change to that does the issue clear?
Beyond that, if you have tried known good parts for each of the minimum to post devices and the issue persisted it is likely the motherboard itself.

I get the message ''CPU 1 M23 VTT PG voltage is outside of range'' only when i occupy mem slots A1 A2, B1 B2. If i add extra memory to A3A4 B3B4 and the rest, the system works fine with 2x E5-2620v2 cpus. I wanted to replace 8 X 4Gb Dimms with 4 x 32Gb when the problem appeared. The messages I get on control panel are VLT0304 & VLT0204 with either 4 or 32 GB dimms occupying A1A2 B1B2 slots.Any suggestion?
