R760 diagnostics freezing

Hello all,

I am attempting to run the iDrac diagnostic package and it is freezing at the storage initialization.

Is anyone aware of what might be causing this?  I feel like it should fail if it were a problem with a disk or controller.

Diagnostic version: 4303A09

Thanks in advance.

Hello, where does it hang?

Have you recently added an extra part to the system?

Hello Young,

It is hanging at the initialization stage of the diagnostic tool.  We have not added anything new.

Thank you.

Hello,

Try updating the diagnostics from 4303A09 to 4303A15 and test results.

Update.

I have updated the diagnostic tool to the current version.

The problem seems to be around having both M.2 drives installed in the BOSS controller at the same time.  I can run the diagnostic tool as long as only one of the slots is populated.

The BIOS has also halted at times giving me the RIP 523AD1CB error as well.

Hello,

Can you confirm the iDRAC, BIOS and BOSS is on the latest firmware?

BOSS-N1 Monolithic Package Version 2.1.13.2025

https://dell.to/3JALlre

BIOS Version 2.1.5

https://dell.to/3Qlpgkm

iDRAC version 7.10.30.05

https://dell.to/3Qlph7U

Have you tried reseating your BOSS module cables?

Check all cables and components are installed securely.

I haven't seen this RIP 523AD1CB before. Can you post an image of the error?

Would you be able to call in to Support? If you still have warranty on R760 an Engineer can do a remote session with you to get a look with you.

Everything is updated to the levels suggested, I have also replaced every component excluding one of the drives. Everything works fine if only one drive is installed in either slot.

My image won't post for some reason.

Hello,

Have you tried, with both drives installed and swapping positions is it the same result?

Are these original drives shipped with the system?

Could you post the part number of the drives and I can check if they are validated for the R760 BOSS?

For some reason the images are not showing up. You may try making them smaller, but not to small can't read and try .png file format.

If it appears you may need part replacement under warranty I would recommend contact support directly 1-800-945-3355.
