RAID 5 DATA RECOVERY
Hello,
We have a problem of recovering the data on the 3 SCSI HD installed on our Dell PowerEdge2600 Server, RAID 5 config. On the Bios, PERC 4 / Di Array setting we can see that all the HD are on-line, meaning they are in good condition,? but physically, HD number 3 on the array is blinking green then amber color on its LED, meaning failed HD.? We cannot rebuild the 3rd drive because its nomal on the webbios (H), but physically it is FAILED. And even only one HD is FAILED, The OS is not starting, appearing on the screen is a letter "j" and blinking. What are we going to do? Pls.
Thank You very much.

Romy,
If you boot to the Raid controller, what does it show for the array status? Also, does the array show as bootable in the controller?
Let me know.

Romy, do not get carried away and start playing with the disk system. At the present point it is likely a recoverable situation; play with the disk system, and it will not be.
Sound like HD3 will need to be failed manually, then replaced with a good drive. You may have a corrupt OS, which will need to be repaired, after the drive is replaced.

Okey, we will try to it but, just for clarification, the data on the other 2 drives will not be affected?
