Power Edge R710 Raid Issues
Hello, I am using a DELL Power Edge R710 with the integrated Raid Controller. At the moment I setup 2 HDDs in a RAID-1 as virtual disk 0. Now I plugged in a third disk which should run just next to the Raid-1. (I am running a vmware esxi host on my virtual disk 0) However, I can ONLY select the third drive as global hotspare or undo that. I cant do anything else. And of course as a result, I cannot use this drive in my vmware host. Do you have any idea on what to do with that third drive and what I could do to make it work with that PERC 6 controller? (Before I inserted the virtual disk 0 RAID , I only had that single drive in my server and that worked!) It would be great to get some help... Cheers

You must configure the disk in a 1-disk RAID 0. On the VD MGMT screen, highlight the controller, F2, Create/New.
The PERC 6 does NOT support non-RAID/passthru, so every disk must be configured in a VD/array before the OS can use it.
