Riser 2 card for CPU2 only?
Hi,
I have what I hope is a simple question but I'm not able to confirm it on the Dell website.
I'm wanting to use a 2nd PCIe card in my R650xs which requires an additional riser card, does this require a 2nd CPU for it to work?
The card would go in PCIe slot 3 which would connect to the motherboard via the riser 2 connector, is there anyway for this to work with a single CPU?
Thanks

Neon_Ghost,
Unfortunately if you're looking to install a card via slot 3 using any riser 2 variant, the system requires a second CPU be installed. With only CPU 1 installed, slot 3 will either be inactive or disabled based on the riser and configuration chosen. For a single-CPU system, you are limited to slot 1 (on riser 1) and slot 3 is unavailable in all configurations without CPU 2
Let me know if this helps.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the confirmation, I had a feeling that might be the case but wanted to be 100%.
I appreciate you responding to me.
Many thanks,
James
