Run updates via Lifecycle Controller keeps failing
Hi all,
I am trying to update my PE R710s (running classic ESX4.1) via the Lifecycle controller.
Current running LCC v1.6.5.12
We cannot use the ftp option via the LCC because our network has VLANs.
As far as I understand I should export a Windows x86 Bundle (PER710 v500) to an USB stick (then either mount as Virtual Media - iDRAC or physically connect it to the R710).
When I boot up into the LCC and try the platform update, I get the following error message (see screenshot):
I have tried different USB sticks, different R710s....The only thing I can think of is that the SUU is corrupt
Hope someone can give some ideas....
Cheers

RB51,
There is a couple options you have. You can download and boot to this ISO - Build and Update Utility - http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=NF1CT&fileId=2731102793&osCode=WS8R2&productCode=poweredge-r710&languageCode=EN&categoryId=SM
Then from its menu select Platform Update and swap the ISO with this one Server Update Utility (SUU) - http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER01988562M/1/SUU_740_Q42013_A00.ISO
Or you can download the Repository Manager and then extract the repository from the SUU image. You can then point the Lifecycle controller to that repository
Repository Manager - http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER01904224M/1/Dell_Repository_Manager_1.8.0.89.msi
Let me know how it goes.

Hi Chris,
I will try the first option...
Second option: I have the repository manager setup already. I have tried several times to extract a Windows x86 repository but it fails. The I try to remove the SAS-Non_Raid...update which is failing, then fails again.
Dell support tech guy has created a SUU for me and when I try to update via the LCC it gives the error message on my original post.
I am just "insisting" on option 2 because it seems to be easier when you have several servers to update.
Thanks for the tips

Hi Chris,
I think option 1 looks good, however it is warning that the SUU is older than 120 days and therefore I cannot see how to continue any further.
I have also spoken to a Dell support guy who told me that Dell stopped doing SUU ISO. Am I correct to assume that I will have to use repository manager and generate a Linux bootable media? or is there any other method for updating?
Regards
