A disk can be in more than one state. If physical disk 1 is predictive failure it can also be in a missing, failed, online, or offline state. If PD1 is no longer listed as a member of the RAID 1 virtual disk then it is likely also in a missing or offline state.
I suggest booting to the controller BIOS to verify the drive status. If the drive is predictive failure it should be replaced.
Thank you for the reply, i'll reboot that sucker and get into the controller bios and amke sure it sees the drive. If it does and is in a predictive failure state I'll let it spin backup and swap drives out. Thank you again.
I reboot the server and pressed ctrl+r to get into the config. Once in the disc shows as "missing". Not sure what I can do at this point? Can I just swap out the bad drive with the good one while the server is running?
If the drive was predictive failure and is now missing then I would replace it. Whether or not you can hot-swap would depend on the controller and connector type. If the drives are connected to a backplane and the controller supports hot-swap then you can hot-swap.
