T410 server disk drive bay battery low

I have a server Dell T410. Yesterday the following message appeared on the front panel display:

disk drive bay battery low

My question is do I need to replace it?

If I need to get new one can you link original DELL part?

Do I need to do something before the replacement?

Hello,

The PERC battery maintains the data in the PERC memory when powered off.

If the battery fails then the PERC automatically goes into Write-Through mode.

Typically the PERC is in Write-Back and data is passed to the PERC to write to disk.

In Write-Through data is written direct to disk and is not held in memory.

It typically would not fail the controller as it puts the controller in write-through regularly when it does battery relearn which it does every 90 days.

That sounds like the PERC battery. The battery goes through learn cycles every 90 days by default. The battery will drain and then trickle charge when this happens. If it is going through a learn cycle or if power was disconnected from the system then a low battery status may be normal. I would give it ~8 hours to charge to see if the battery status goes to normal.

I don't know if we sell the battery any longer. The PERC 5i, 6i, and H700 all use the same type of battery. I think we changed the battery after the H700. One of the part numbers for the battery is NU209.

Hello,

After replacing the battery, do I need to do anything for the server to recognize the new battery?
I don't have "OpenManager Server Administrator" installed.

Best regards,
Matheus

Hello, a PERC battery probably needs charging with the server on.

Hello, what is the function of this type of batteries? What is the symptom if the battery fails? Would the controller fail or is it optional?
