Teaming option not available

Thought I'd try here before getting on the phone.

I have a PE2650, 2 integrated gigabit NICs (Broadcom NetExtreme Gigabit Ehterhnet) AND 2 Intel Pro/1000 MT Server Adapters. New, just built last week.

Neither the Intel Proset OR the Broadcom advanced control Suite show the teaming options.  I had the 2 Intel's added on hoping to team them together, and then team the two broadcom's together.  Best case would be to team all 4, but I don't see the team tab on BACS and the Team/VLAN is unavailble on the Intel software side.

Any hints?  This machine is NOT in its final destination, I want to get it config'd before taking to the datacenter for installation, so it's not on a gigabit network.  Do I need to have it on a gigabit network for teaming to be available?

I can post or provide service tag information if neccessary.

Have you alread tried to run setup from command prompt?

Location: \MgmtApps
Command: setup basp (use lower case letters only, no slashes or dashes)

Broadcom Advanced Server Program Intermediate Driver. The Load Balance/Virtual LANs can be created after installing this driver. Any available adapter can be configured as part of a team. Teaming is a method of grouping multiple adapters into a virtual adapter (bundling multiple adapters to look like a single adapter). The benefit of this approach is load balancing.

Perfect! Thanks!  My last server (PowerVault 775) came with this option installed, so I wasn't aware it was a separate installed feature.

If PROSet is installed with out the Intel Advanced Networking Services (teaming), please follow these instructions to install the intermediate (teaming) driver:

1. Double click on the Proset.msi file located under IntelAdvanced\Apps\PROSet\W2KWS03 folder
2. Click on Next from the Welcome screen
3. Click on Modify from the Program Maintenance screen
4. Chose to Install the Advanced Network Service to the local hard drive
5. Click on Next
6. Click Install
7. Click on Finish after the driver has installed successfully.

Dell Server's Network Drivers support the use of an intermediate driver to provide advanced services such as Teaming and IEEE 802.1Q VLANS.  Both Intel and Broadcom provide intermediate drivers specific to their network controllers and drivers, both vendor's intermediate driver allow for the inclusion of other brands of NICs in teaming configurations.

Although both intermediate drivers can exist on a system at the same time, both should not be used at the same time.  One intermediate driver should be utilized for all teams in a system.  Using both intermediate drivers at the same time can produce unpredictable results, even if they are each used on different physical network controllers.  Dell does not support the use of multiple intermediate network drivers at the same time in a system under any operating system.

When teaming with either brand of intermediate driver, at least one network controller of the same brand of the intermediate driver must be used in that team, but a single card can not be used in more than one team at a time.  Consult the documentation provided with the network driver software for specific details and an overview of provided Advanced Services.

When using drivers from the Intel PRO Family of Adapter Driver set, version 7.0 for teaming, make sure to use drivers from Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Family Adapter Driver version 6.6 or 6.7.
