Upgrade processor

I have a Dell PowerEDGE 600SC. I am interested in seeing if I can upgrade the processor. How do I find out what the fastest processor that the motherboard can handle is? Thanks.

You want to check out what processors the motherboard and chipset can handle. I think the standard chipset for a 600SC is GC-SL which is 400Mhz front side bus. I think it can support the 2.8GHz range Pentium 4.

I've got a 600SC here.
It's a socket 478 board.
Depending on which board your system has, it's either 400Mhz or 533Mhz.
I've not seen any with the 800Mhz boards.

So, you're limited in the processors you can install.

Check VERY CAREFULLY when getting ready to buy.

My system is stagnant at the 2.4Ghz, 400Mhz processor.

Good Luck
