Upgrading PowerEdge T430
Hi team,
Hope you are well.
I would like to upgrade the T430 server (CPU, hard disk, fun and power supply units if it is required too). Apologies for the questions if they can be obvious, I am not specialised in systems and wonder if you can please help me on the upgrade I would like to do:
I have a PowerEdge T430 Xeons E5 2630 v3, 8 cores, 16 CPUs with SATA hard disks, 1 power supply and 1 fan unit. I have several VMs but I would like to add more VMs, some containers and nested virtualization too.
1) I would like to upgrade to double CPU, which one would you recommend for better performance?
2) Will I need a secondary internal cooling fan and a second power supply unit?
3) I have SATA disks (around 4TB), should I migrate the HD system to another one?
4) I was thinking SSD for the OS (ESXi) and SAS for VMs and containers/nested virtualization but perhaps are not the correct types for me. Please, which hard disks would you recommend to me based on my goal?
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,
Sebs

Hi thanks for choosing Dell. However, I’m afraid your questions would be best treated by the presales/consulting team rather than us tech support. I apologize I can’t be of help this time. If you have any after-sales tech support inquiries, please visit the forum again. Wish you a good one.
