USC issues
Hi all
Hope someone can help!
Have just picked up an R710 and 1st thing I've tried to do is update firmware etc. all to latest revisions.
Unfortunately for some reason, when I enter USC (after F10 from boot), I do not have the option to "Platform Update".
The version of USC is 1.3.0.16.
I have been able to update iDrac6 to 1.97.
Would appreciate any ideas as to how to get USC fixed. Is there a way to update USC itself?
cheers
will

Hi Will,
Is there an OS installed? If there is you can do the updates there. If not you can try to run the USC repair package with the same process as updating the DRAC from the web gui. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=7Y5M4&fileId=3364545105&osCode=WS8R2&productCode=poweredge-r710&languageCode=EN&categoryId=SV

Hi Josh
No OS installed as yet.
I downloaded that file you linked to but I was unable to extract the .USC file? (tried 7zip and winrar).
Been at this all day - head is fried and I've got nowhere :emotion-9:
cheers

It is not a compressed file. Go into the iDRAC web GUI and go to firmware update and choose that file and it will update the USC.

[Profanity removed], this goes from bad to worse :( So the SBUU loaded ok via virtual console, I saw what updates it needed, accepted them, went to update firmware, pointed to my SUU and continued. It says "Checking for Firmware Updates" and has been stuck at 5% since I last posted. I can still open up the iDrac6 gui. And one thing I've noticed is the LC Firmware now says 1.6.0.73. Is this the same as the USC Firmware version? As this was 1.3.0.16 before I began. Is this utility supposed to take so long? (like hours?) If not, what options do I have? cheers will
