versions of Broadcom software?!?

From looking through the downloads on the following models, I would like to better understand which version of Broadcom drivers are recommended:

2500, 1650, 2650 - version recommended 66a

2550 - version recommended 66

1750 with 2000 - version recommended 67a

1750 with 2003 - version recommended 66a

Should I be following these guidelines by the PowerEdge model downloads page, or use the 67a family driver on all Broadcoms?  It seems confusing to me!

Thank you,

Eric Dean

Hi. I can;t help you with this.  I am a novice.  But I just received a new dell 2400 and there is a Broadcom Management Program listed on the list of programs.  Can you tell me what it does?  I can't get anyone on the Dell phone today. I think this might be interfering with my wireless system since I can't get onto the internet and I have tried everything. I wanted to try deleting the Broadcom program but then I got an error message saying that the install script engine on the machine is older than the version required to run this setup (or uninstall in this case.)    Sorry to bother you with this question but since you asked about Broadcom, I thought you would know what it does.  With regards,

This may not be entirely right, but I'll tell you what I think.  :-)

The Broadcom Management program is a utility that allows you configure your network cards, monitor them, and set any special settings.  The average user does not usually use it.  Most people have one network card, set it up in the native network settings, and go from there.

My thought about removing it is that some programs will look for the .MSI installer file used to initally install it.  When it gets one from a different version, it may give you a message like you are describing.  You may need to get hold of different versions of the Broadcom software to find one that allows the graceful uninstall.  However, I doubt it would be interfering with your wireless and it should not hurt to leave it there.

Hope this helps,

Eric
