I opened a ticket with Dell support. They sent me a procedure to clear logs and reset using ssh(putty). After that I was able to log in and update as needed.
Hi, resetting iDRAC or CMC should not affect your server’s operation, but it may cause a brief communication disruption. To avoid any possible issues in your production environment, you should do these steps only when you have a maintenance window or scheduled downtime. Might be you can try to reset it via command line interface.
Thanks. Any idea why the firmware update of my standby CMC did not take effect? Something happened during the update since I am still getting a slew of warning emails from my CMC this morning. I feel like one or both of my CMC modules may have problems.
I think there may be many reasons for what could happen. A corruption with the firmware or the hardware itself. Among the things you can do, maybe you can do an MD5 checksum and check if the firmware file is missing. And you can try reinstalling FW. https://dell.to/3V0Cvb4
