what is needed for DRAC

Hi!

We have one PowerEdge 2950 server that we need to upgrade to a new one. We need to use its DRAC to work remotely. It is taking the ip address from DHCP and showing it under Remote Access in Server Administrator but when we are entering the ip address in the browser it is not connecting and showing up anything. We don't have a separate drac card in the server. We are trying to connect the NIC which is connected to the internal network.

What are we missing?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hello

Could explain that again. I'm not sure exactly what you are doing. Is this a 2950 you are working on?

I'm really confused by this part:

We don't have a separate drac card in the server. We are trying to connect the NIC which is connected to the internal network.

If this is a 2950 and you don't have a DRAC then you can't connect to the IP address of the NIC like that. The NIC itself does not have an embedded web server like the DRAC does.

What model server is this and what version of the DRAC does it have. Are you using the dedicated network port or are you sharing with the LAN on motherboard?

Thanks
