buy extra slots discs

Hello!

We currently have a poweredge t550 with 2 bays, each with 4 drives. I would like to know if it is possible to individually purchase an extension of disks for the upper part of the Tower. We currently have the 2 4-drive bays occupied and would need to expand the server with other drives.

1.- 4x 4tb SSD disks in raid 10 (8tb total)

2.- 4x 8tb SSD disks in raid 10 (16tb total)

Hello thanks for choosing Dell.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to say no to this: what this requires is a kit, not  just "a" part, and it simply does not exist in our part componant list.
Respectfully,

Hi!

Oh really? Dell doesn't sell a kit to expand the bays? We bought the server at the beginning of the year, so what alternative is there?. Is there a pci raid card for 4 nvme m2 drives?

Thanks

Hi,

Unfortunately, T550 has only the front 2 M.2 SSD NVMe, it does not support Dell's BOSS PCIe card. Since you procured the server recently, have you contacted your sales representative about the upgrade of the front 8 x 2.5-inch NVMe backplane. The sales probably have the kit selection which bundles all the cables, backplane and screws.

@DELL-Joey C

Hello Joey, yes, I sent an email requesting the disk update, but it told me that they did not have that option. Currently we have the 2 bays and also the 2 front m2 drives.

I honestly find it surprising that this server is so unscalable after being sold.

Thanks

Hi,

I wish to extend my help, but it's out of my capacity. Nevertheless, maybe someone from this community do have experience upgrading their T550. Let's wait for any replies.
