Need / Want to install 10TB drives in PowerEdge T620

Hello, I have a client that uses a photography company for pictures. The price they are charging is going way up (according to my client). They are currently hosting 5-6 TB for them. He would like to get drives about double this size. I want to know if the DELL PowerEdge can see / use 10TB SATA drives in a RAID 1? I've looked around, and the best answer I can find is maybe.

Hello thanks for choosing Dell. I looked up and see that 8TB is supported in T620.

Hi Charles, I had looked on the web-site and only saw 300 and 600GB drives. I knew that was incomplete as we already have 4TB drives in the server. I didn't think the 4k drives would be compatible - thanks for confirming that. Thank you for the above list.

@DELL-Young E​ Is there a list of supported drives? Will 4k drives work? Or should I limit my search to 512e?

I would recommend contact Sales for current available drives.

Currently there are not many listed there.

 

 

In the Service Parts database for the T620 I see a few Service part numbers for some 8TB drives.

I did not see any 10TB in the parts database for T620

8TB, HDD, 7.2K RPM, 3.5 inch, Non Encrypted, SAS12, 512e, 256MB, Enterprise Class

These are service part numbers and do not come up on the web site.

You would need to contact Sales and ask for the Spart Part Department to get a quote for these part numbers.

 

You will also want to make sure you purchase your drive with a carrier. The service part numbers are for drive only.

Please be sure to contact Sales to assist you with getting the drive with carrier.

 

Stay with 512e. 12Gth Gen server controller (such as T620) will not support 4K drives
