Performance issue with PERC H710P Mini

Hi there,

We have a PowerEdge R420 which has the PERC H710P Mini (Embedded) raid, controller. We use 4 x Samsung SSD 840 in RAID10, and running Windows 2019.

We're seeing several performance issues. For example, copying files locally may actually get to 700kb/sec. When we do large transfers, the system becomes unresponsive. The Windows Performance Monitor counters (Physical Disk counters) do not show a bottleneck which makes it even weirder.

I'm currently downloading the newest firmware, currently running 21.2.0-0007 on the controller.

I hope that the firmware update will solve the issue.

But if it doesn't, what could I try to fix this? Why does it happen?

Thanks

Alex

Hi, the latest firmware is Dell PERC H710 Mini monolithic adapter firmware release 21.3.5-0002. But R420's doesn't have Windows 2019 among its supported operating systems as you can see from here.

I'd recommend the firmware update first and foremost. Hope you have a good week ahead!
