R430 upgrade from Windows server 2012R2 to 2019

Hi All,

I would like to upgrade a R430 server from Windows server 2012R2 to 2019 without reinstalling the system.

But, on official Dell web site, "Dell EMC does not support in-place upgrade from Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2016 to Windows Server 2019.".

Anyone ever tried in-place upgrade ?

Thanks,

Hello thanks for choosing Dell.
I believe you have purchased Windows 2019 separately. This is best directed to MS, not Dell in my humble opinion.
We can wait to see what other users think about.

Hello,

I'm not sure to understand.

My DELL reference is this :

https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/microsoft-windows-server-2019/windows2019_rn_pub/upgrading-from-earlier-versions-of-windows-server-to-windows-server-2019?guid=guid-4453479e-e61a-4aba-82e4-edb03c7bab75&lang=en-us

Do you mean that it's only a software problem but not related to the hardware?

Then would this procedure from MS be functional ?

Best regards,

Hello Gilles,

The first link is just stating that Dell does not support the in-place upgrade.

The R430 is validated for WS2019, but not WS2022.

If you want to do the in-place upgrade and have directions from Microsoft, you could do that.

You may use the Microsoft boards for any questions you may have.
