EMC engineering are still working on this issue, they have identified the cause of the issue and are working currently on a fix. Once they have verified the fix, testing will start, this may take some time yet.

I found a workaround to this issue on Oracle's support site (metalink.oracle.com). The ASMtool (called by oracleasm) has a force option that skips the partition checks it can be run this way:

# /usr/sbin/asmtool -C -l /dev/oracleasm -n ppvolc -s /dev/emcpowerc1 -a force=yes
asmtool: Device /dev/emcpowerc1 is not a partition
asmtool: Continuing anyway

After which the volume created in /dev/oracleasm/disks will have root/root permission. If you have configured Oracleasm to correct disk permissions on boot, the user setting will be applied on reboot.

Any ETA when this would be fixed in the pp ?

I believe the fix will be included in PowerPath 5.3, GA date is March 10th approx.
