Dell MD3420 act/act sync second DAS/NAS

Hello,

we are using one Dell MD3420 connected via sas cables to our two hyper-v host servers.
In the near future we need to realize a backup target with more volume. Now we are storing on a backup server by vRanger and then write it on a LTO7 tape by NetVault.

Is it possible to setup an active/active synch with a second MD3420 or do we have to use other hardware in general to get a synch possibility?

Thank you for replies and suggestions.

Hello Jay Dee,

Here is the link to the administrator guide and if you look on page 157 it states the following

“Remote Replication (Legacy) — Synchronous (or full-write) replication that synchronizes local and remote site data in real-time. This type of replication is supported on Fibre Channel storage arrays only.”

Since you have a sas system you can’t do synchronous replication.  https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/powervault-md3400_administrator-guide_en-us.pdf
