Powervault MD3200 disk compatibility
Good morning, I would like to ask if these dell disk PN are compatible with a PowerVault MD3200 SAN (I did not found them in
http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/Common/MD32XX_MD36XX_SupportMatrix_en-us.pdf 2Tb 12Gb/s 3.5'' SAS disk PN: 400-ALOB (C36WJ) 4Tb 12Gb/s 3.5'' SAS disk PN: 400-ATKM (FW4KG) As I have an empty drive tray (caddy) and found these disks, I would like to ask if it is a tray incompatibility or also a firmware incompatibility ? Thank you, Best Regards

Good morning, We had the opportunity to check for one 400-ALRT p/n disk compatibility directly with the MD3200. The disk is recognized correctly and it works.
Thank you

Hello videosml,
The drive part# that you posted are PowerEdge server HDD’s and will not be seen by your MD3200. The HDD’s for an MD3XXX system needs to have the MD firmware on the drives prior to being inserted into your MD. If a drive doesn’t have MD firmware the drive will be marked as unsupported and then the drive will be spun down. You must use drives that are on the support matrix to have then seen by an MD3xxx system.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
