PowerVault MD3200 Disk Replacements.
Hi Dell Community,
Have a question that requires help with some insight. Recently my PowerVault MD1200 is having disk issues and I so happen to have a spare disk with similar specification to the one that is having disk issues. The Product ID of the disk that has an error is ST8000NM0185. Was wondering if I can just swap out the faulty disk and pluck in the same specification disk that I have on hand.
Is there any proprietary software that is installed in Dell PowerVault's disk that does not allow any similar specification disk to be used by MD1200.

Hello SkyG,
It is best to replace a failed drive with one that is on the support matrix for your MD3200 or MD1200. Here is the link to both support matrix.

If the drive that failed is in your MD3200 then you have to replace it with a drive from the support matrix. If the drive is in your MD1200 then, as long as it is a dell brand drive it should work.
