QLA2340 Scsi Miniport Driver Install Problem
I am having an issue installing the SCSI miniport x64 driver for a QLA2340 HBA. This is installed in a PE2850 running Windows 2003 R2 x64. When I installed Windows to the system, it identified the HBA and installed the canned windows STOR port driver. I have downloaded the lastest SCSI miniport driver from Qlogics website but have had no success in installing it. Upon install it errors out saying
"The specified location does not contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the location contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x-64 based systems." I can download the newest STOR port x64 driver from Qlogic, and it WILL upgrade successfully. Does anyone have any ideas as to why the SCSI version for x64 will not install??

Where did you get an x64-Windows version of a miniport driver?

Thanks for your response! You are right.....I contacted Qlogic support and they told me the same thing......that an x64 version was not available. But I was able to show the guy where I downloaded one from the Qlogic website, and then he told me that those versions were for Itanium based systems and were not supported anymore. Thing is...they have separate downloads for IA64 based and X64 based systems! (http://support.qlogic.com/support/os_detail.asp?productid=253&osid=64 If you scroll to the bottom of the download page you'll see a "previously released versions" link, and then you'll be able to access several X64 SCSI versions of the driver. I really didn't get a good explanation when I asked about that.
Anyway, the only reason I was trying to use SCSI instead of STOR is that I also have a SCSI based NAS (220s) attached to the system as well and did not want to have conflicts between the drivers. I had a similar system like this in the past which had a PV136T SCSI attached to it. When I installed the STOR port driver for my 2340 HBA, the PV136T quit working. I was told to install the SCSI miniport for the HBA and when I did, all began working normally again. I was just trying to avoid a similar situation with this server.
I will just try it with the STOR port driver and see what happens.......

I've got 3 PCI devices which simply won't detect and won't respond to the correct drivers from the EMC section of Qlogics driver page.
Can we possibly get a step-by-step installation guide for the QLA2340 on 2003 R2?
Thanks.

When I try to access the SAN via the R2 tools, it still gives VDS errors too.

So I'm pretty sure it's not a chipset driver.
