TL2000 Drive Dump File
Hi,
Is there anyway to read the TL2000 drive dump file. Would like to know what issue with the tape drive. The tape library keeps posting "TRC/CST <84 17 02 37> Drive Warn or Crit Tape Alert flag" and drive has status "Ready /Cleaning Required" but the cleaning job always failed.

Hello @SMWong,
I am afraid there is no specific documentation published explaining how to troubleshooting the TL2000 logs. Only how to extract them to send them to Dell Support. As you can see here: TL2000 / TL4000 : How to collect the tape library and drive diagnostic logs "DumpAll" for troubleshooting. Then if the library is still in warranty, the logs can be analyzed by Dell Support.
However, normally this error can be solved when doing a reset of your TL2000 back to factory settings and see if that fixes the issue. If it doesn’t then you might need to replace the chassis.

Hi @DiegoLopez ,
Thanks for your info. My tape library has two tape drives, only one of the tape drive having the problem while the other working fine. Therefore, suspect only the problem with the tape drive while not chassis. Will try to contact Dell Support on this. Thanks.

I can quite sure the problem were not related to the backup tapes as no matther older or newer tapes also have this problem and
the cleaning action performed every time on this tape drive during media attention occured, the clenaing media is never expired as well.
Grateful if you could help me to solve the problem, the drive dump and service dump can send to you. Please provide the ftp or other option.

Hello itosimon,
Thank you for logs. I've reviewed them and would like to recommend follow steps:
-Update firmware for both Tape Drives till the latest (J4D1) (restart required):

-Run a cleaning task with a new cleaning tape in both of the drives;
-You could also try a new backup task with a new non-used media.
