Just installed a half height LTO4 drive into my tl2000, but I am getting "Exception 48 1". Is the TL 2000 only compatible with IBM LTO 4 drives? The one in there is an HP model SAS. Is it possible to flash the HP drive to an IBM firmware?
As tapelibraryfixer stated, a TL2000 only use IBM tape drives in them. If you put another drive in the system that is not an IBM drive then the TL2000 will not see and be able to use the tape drive.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
IBM lto and HP lto are physically different drives from LTO6 and below so IBM firmware cannot be loaded onto a physical hp drive and vice versa.
The TL range of library only uses IBM drives as there technically an IBM unit converted for Dell.
Also in most cases you cant just stick any IBM drive into a TL library as IBM drive have VPD settings internally that need to be setup for that library.
