The Precision T3500 uses 1066 MHz and 1333Mhz DDR3 unbuffered SDRAM memory. DDR3 SDRAM or double-data-rate three synchronous dynamic random access memory is a random access memory technology. It is a part of the SDRAM family of technologies, which is one of many DRAM (dynamic random access memory) implementations, and is an evolutionary improvement over its predecessor, DDR2 SDRAM.
Its primary benefit is the ability to run its I/O bus at four times the speed of the memory cells it contains, thus enabling faster bus speeds and higher peak throughputs than earlier technologies. This is achieved at the cost of higher latency. Also, the DDR3 standard allows for chip capacities of 512 megabit to 8 gigabit, effectively enabling memory modules of maximum 16 gigabyte in size.
DDR3 memory comes with a promise of a power consumption reduction of 30% compared to current commercial DDR2 modules due to DDR3's 1.5 V supply voltage, compared to DDR2's 1.8 V or DDR's 2.5 V. This supply voltage works well with the 90 nm fabrication technology used for most DDR3 chips. Some manufacturers further propose to use "dual-gate" transistors to reduce leakage of current.
The main benefit of DDR3 comes from the higher bandwidth made possible by DDR3's 8 bit deep prefetch buffer, whereas DDR2's is 4 bits, and DDR's is 2 bits deep.

Yes i've read all the tables and tested all the configurations listed there for 4gb ones. I am not familliar with any of the different ram types. That's why i provided the model of the ram to ask you if its compatible with t3500 or not. I need a simple answer yes or no.
3 sticks with 4gb ram-the pc wont even start and would only emit beep sound for ram error.
Tried with6 sticks the result is the same. I have the last version of BIOS so this shouldn't be an issue.
Yes i found out the problem nowhere in the specs of dell t3500 is mentioned that it is runing on **bleep** DDR3L(Light) which is the problem. I will have to throw out this garbage since there is almost impossible to find a ram for it now on a reasonable price. And the my next configuration certainly won't be dell as the support here only copy+pastes pc specs without providing any actual help. Pretty disappointed. :(
The RAM you have is "PC-3-8500R". The "R" means Registered ECC which works fine in higher end Servers and Precision T5500/T7500 Workstations, but not the T3500. You can only use non-buffered ECC -OR- Non-ECC memory in the T3500. (You can't mix them...)
You can also only use up to 4GB per DIMM in the T3500 for a maximum total of 24GB.
I regularly see non-buffered 4GB ECC sticks for really good prices at the usual online auction/Buy-It-Now site. The reason that ECC sticks can be had for such low prices is that they won't work in most basic home/office use or gamer motherboards and computers, so this limits the market. Registered ECC sticks can be had for even better prices as they are only for use in high-end systems. Most people with these workstations or servers won't trust their production systems with used and e-wasted memory. They work great in my personal systems though and saved me a ton of cash.

No. T5500 RAM spec is different than T3500.
