Precision 5720 AIO, not supported by Windows 11!
I paid extra for a Precision because they are supposed to be supported longer than other models but after only 1 OS generation it will no longer! From what I can gather, the Intel Xeon CPU E3-1245 v6 is the reason why. It's perhaps because of the security vulnerability of this processor? It came out in 2017, the year before I purchased my workstation! Why is the 5720 AIO not supported in the next generation OS? I don't know if my next system will be a Dell as I am not the type of person who like buy systems that end up in the trash every time a new OS is released.

Is your CPU not gen 9? Is Win11 not working? The 8th gen or newer CPU requirement is Microsoft and not Dell.

@bradthetechnut No. It's an Intel Xeon CPU E3-1245 v6 @ 3.70GHz (8 CPUs) which I believe came out in 2017, the year before I purchased my Dell.

I may have gotten confused or some literature has it wrong? https://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Xeon/Intel-Xeon%20E3-1245%20v6.html

The Xeon E3-1245 dates from 2011 -- so no, it is not supported by Windows 11. As noted that was a Microsoft decision, but the system isn't just one generation old -- it's over a decade old.

Hello @ejn63 , the E3-1245 is a Sandy Bridge CPU and was released in 2011. But the OP's Xeon E3-1245 v6 is a Kaby Lake CPU and it came out in 2017.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and the issue in this thread was not about computer or technical issue. It's about personal understanding and OP somehow is thinking that Dell supposed to build a machine with technical ability to adapter with future OS. Which is a every unreasonable from the lack of knowledge.
From information provided, the computer was purchased in 2018. Supporting most OS during that period, from Win 7 to Win 10. The machine hardware itself is over 5 years and considered EOL by business practice. In another word, machine is not eligible for any extended service warranty. But for personal use, the machine will last another 5 years if owner can maintain its condition.
While I/we could assist the OP to put Win 11 on it and make it works. We can't fix the OP mindset. If OP thinks that a computer should be trashed every time new OS is released, something is seriously wrong with that state of mind.
Other users with the same situation would seek for advises of how to put Win 11 on it and will support their own machines.

Dell policy is stated on the Precision 5720 AIO drivers page.

Just installed Fedora Workstation 42 on it. It works absolutely perfectly. The marketplace app installs all the common use apps, Chrome, Zoom, etc etc. Stable, Works, and Supported.
