Precision 5820 boot fails first time
We have a few Dell Precision 5820 workstations running WIN 10. When you power up, they seem to be booting but shut off in a short time. They always boot up correctly on the second try powering up. Any ideas? Is there some BIOS setting I need to change?

Check the BIOS Boot menu to make sure that Windows Boot Manager is first in the list. Also set BIOS POST time to 10 seconds which will allow you to see any messages during POST that may help spot a problem.

Were these systems plugged in to "live" current and boot up from power button? The behavior described is similar to the system initialization when introducing to live current (plug in to power socket), they would shut off after several seconds. Then you would have to push power button to boot up.

This behavior usually happens if you force shut down the computer by holding the power button or unplugging the computer. Besides that, you should look at the power button light color to see which sequence of amber/white lights you may see. If the latter is the case, then there might be some settings/hardware issues.

Thanks for all the ideas. I tried a few different things but I also had to reload WIN 10. After that, the machine seems to boot correctly.
