Precision 5820 Workstation Failing Ambient Air Temp. Sensor
Hello all,
One of my Precision 5820 Machines took a severe dump on me and Dell Pro Plus Support has taken over a week to respond properly. I would like to see what everyone else's take on this issue might be and if i can purchase the part to finish the job Dell techs cant seem to get done.
The Workstation during POST stops and warns of a failing Ambient Air Temperature Sensor with the following error codes.
Error Code: 2000-0713
Validation: 103033
SIDE NOTE: This prevents the machine from booting entirely.
I should mention Dell seems to be stumped by there own error code because if you go to http://supportassist.dell.com like they tell you to - the code when entered comes up as an invalid code on their support site.
Dell sent a new motherboard, however the replacement motherboard brought up the exact same error with no change after 1 week of waiting for a fix.
I know which part is failing, I was able to physically locate the ambient temperature sensor on the unit.
Has anyone else heard of this or has anyone else gone through this? These machines are 7K fully built to our specs and no one can seem to figure this out.

I am having the exact same problem---same model (5820), same error code (0713), no help from Dell's website, machine cannot boot.
Were you able to find a solution? Anyone?

That error code is listed on this page and suggests updating to the most recent BIOS. And I am not sure if your Support Assist page was the same as this one. Also run a diagnostic test (F12 immediately at boot) after the BIOS update.

Thanks for your reply JOcean. I have updated the BIOS and run diagnostics---they are all fine, except for that error code, which is not going away. The good news is that the system now can boot after warning me of the error, so it has become an annoyance instead of a show-stopper.
It seems possible that there is indeed a cable or sensor that is not properly seated, but I cannot locate them on the MB/chassis. The diagrams in the Owner's manual do not indicate their location either. Anyone know how to find the air sensor?

I had a 5820 that was misbehaving after a BIOS update. We had to restore BIOS and started receiving this error. I inspected the unit and found a cable unplugged. I believe my team pulled it loose while reseating the graphics card. After I plugged it in the error stopped showing.
There are two square headers on the Motherboard marked FLEX_TEMP 0 &FLEX_TEMP 1. The cables that connect to them end in a sensor that sits between the Drive Bays and the 2 system fans. If you have difficulty finding them, start at PCI slot 2 and travel towards the front of the machine past the CMOS battery. Or in the 5820 owner's manual, Items 19 & 20 on page 73 & 74.
