Precision T7500 Memory Issue

Hi! I inherited a Dell Precision T7500 workstation. It has dual Xeon E5530 with one on a riser board. It has 32 GB (4 GB x 8 modules) of 1066 RAM, non ECC. They are all the same brand and type. When it boots, I get an alert saying memory failure detected in riser DIMM 1. Before it had said DIMM 2, but after I switched RAM around, it migrated to DIMM 1. I ruled out memory issues when I ran the onboard diagnostic and switched with a known good module. I tried it with 6 modules for triple channel and that didn't help. The BIOS sees all 8 modules and 32 GB. Windows sees 32 as well, but only shows 24 usable. With 6 modules it shows the same, 24 in BIOS and Windows, but only 20 GB available. The BIOS is A16.  I cleaned out the slot and checked for bad pins, but didn't see any. Any help would be appreciated!

Similar problem here.  T7500 dual 6 core (with riser).  Memory failure on one random DIMM at boot.  Sometimes it is the same DIMM.  Sometimes not.  Most commonly on DIMM 2 or 4.  Bios A16.  Still runs, but with reduced performance.  Been this way for months.

Not sure this will help but I have the same system and what I've learned is that the T7500 dual processor workstation is very specific in the way the DIMM modules are populated in the system. If you go to the T7500 Service Manual on this web site it will give you a list of the types of RAM (single rank, dual rank or quad rank) the system can use as well as module size and configuration. I read the system must be populated with the largest fastest modules farthest from the CPU. The Service Manual PDF can be found here.

I had the same problem with ram but not the same way as you guys are having. Have you guys tried removing the cmos battery unplugging and holding the power button for 30 secconds and installing it back in? Also try putting the computer on its side, idk if people were joking on the forums about that last part but it's worth a shot🤷‍

Hello All,

Hoping someone could help, feel real silly as this T7500 w/CPU Riser is killing me.
My issue is somewhat similar, DDR3 on mainboard and the system boots perfectly.

The moment I engage the lock arm on the Riser, this is when the issues begin, the machine never POSTS. I disengage the CPU Riser and it boots fine? What gives, I'm using the same exact memory for the MB and Riser. When I check the logs, it says "T7500 Post Error Memory Size Different" - LOL. I've even tried to follow the guidance in the manual - http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dell_precision_workstation/precision-t7500_Service%20Manual_en-us.pdf

I only have 4GB and 1GB Sticks.

What am I doing wrong, any assistance would be helpful!

Thanks,

Omar

Try removing all rams.

Clean their gold pins with raiser.

Clean all slots with brush and air.

And replace them with number

1st insert ram in dim 1

2nd in dimm2

And soo on.

Hope this will solve the issue.

Mine was solved.

And also clean all system with air blower.
