Thunderbolt for 5820 with two DP inputs

Hi all,

I have a Precision 5820 and would like to add Thunderbolt 3 card so that I can connect a LG UltraFine 5K display and drive it at native 5k resolution.

My understanding is that Dell offers an official Thunderbolt expansion card with part number 555-BEOX, right?

The problem is that I think I need a Thunderbolt card that has TWO DisplayPort inputs, not one (as the Dell Thunderbolt card has). The 5K display essentially expects two DP streams channeled over one Thunderbolt connection, and for that I need a Thunderbolt card that accepts two DP inputs.

This article (https://www.unixtutorial.org/project-connect-lg-5k-display-to-pc/) explains the setup I'm after. In that article they use a Thunderbolt 3 card based on the Intel Titan Ridge chipset, and those cards have two mini DP inputs, and then everything seems to work.

Is there any way to get something similar to work on my 5820? Is there any chance that Dell might offer a Thunderbolt card based on the Titan Ridge chipset that has two mini DP inputs? I assume that there is zero hope that a third party Thunderbolt card might work, or is that worth trying out?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what chipset is used in the Dell Thunderbolt 555-BEOX card? Alpine Ridge, or Titan Ridge?

Thanks,

David
