Upgrade System Memory failure for Precision 5820

Hi all,

I am using a Dell Precision 5820 that came with 32GB of RAM (2x16GB sticks ). I want to upgrade the system to have 64GB in total by adding 2x16GB sticks.

The RAM slots that I am currently using are slots 1 and 2. When I insert the additional RAM to slots 3 and 4, upon startup, there are three beeps and then the power button LED repeats pattern 2-4, 2 amber blinks followed by a short pause, 4 white blinks, long pause. The pattern is described at
https://cdn.cnetcontent.com/syndication/mediaserverredirect/8c1c40691c4a6b0daad1a7f8e844d1fe/original.pdf

That indicates a Memory/RAM failure. How can I find out what exactly the error is? The additional RAM sticks are brand new.

Also, if I try to install the additional memory in slots 5 and 6, I do not get that error. The LED remains white but there is no output on the scree. The computer turns off after 1-2 minutes.

The additional memory that I want to add is:
2 x Axiom AA101753-AX 16 GB DDR4-2666 UDIMM.

Which CPU do you have in the system? With Core X you can use Non ECC UDIMM RAM but if you have Xeon W then you must use ECC RDIMM. Also the most compatible RAM for a Dell is Crucial. With any other manufacturer compatibility is a hit and miss process.

And the RAM you have is Non ECC just for the record.

The CPU is Intel Core i9-10980XE.

So I guess I need to return these RAM sticks, nothing I can do to work around this?

what if you just use 2 new ram and remove 2 old sticks ???

or swap the ram from difference slot?  It can identity the problem from ram or ram slot.
