Using Dell Repository Manager for Precision Workstations

Hi

My goal is to create a local repo where I can point all our precision clients "dell command update" to.

I tried using Dell Repository Manager 2.1, but it already fails updating the application and also the catalogue.

After searching I found out that DRM 2.1 tries to connect to "ftp.dell.com" which dell seems to have killed off.

I then found there is a DRM version 3, called Dell EMC Repository Manager, but DRM3 has no business clients available, only servers.

How can we create such local repo? Or is this not possible anymore since DRM3?

We tried reaching you on a private message asking for the Service Tag number to ascertain the warranty but did not receive a response. Please feel free to reply to the private message whenever you are available.

Does anyone else have an idea? I don't know what this bot wants but my question has nothing to do with warranty.

Yeah, it's interesting that companies use bots to "improve support" and forum website.  As far as I can tell, entering your password doesn't satisfy the bot.  And writing to it certainly fails.  And I don't think any Dell person monitors this forum (a really big fail on customer relations - free good publicity, thrown away).  So here, the only thing the bot does is tarnish Dell's reputation.

Back to your problem.  Git may have killed off proprietary version control/repo management.  Can youy not use git?

Can you explain further how I can use git to create a local dell driver repository for precision clients?

I just use git, not an expert.  But you can install git (free) and play with it.  I think if you want a local proprietary repo there's a licensing cost.  What O/S?

I don't think we are talking about the same thing. I'm not looking for a code repo like GIT but some tool to manage drivers for multiple computers. Such a tool exists, it's called "Dell Repository Manager" but as I explained the new version of this manager "Dell EMC Repository Manager" does not include our client products. So I'm looking for a way to manage a driver store where I can point the client update application "dell command update" to.

Ah, so this is not a code repo but some way of getting the Dell (Driver) Repository Manager to automagically apply updates to drivers for hardware that is not Dell supported?

A quick scan seems to indicate that DRM surveys the Dell Catalog every month, but does not allow you to add in your own software drivers.  And it doesn't include So I see where this would be a PITA.  I learned something.  Thanks for your patience with my (obvious) ignorance.  Good luck.

I have the same question.  We used to use Dell repository manager 2.2.4 to manage workstation driver repositories.  That has stopped working.  I downloaded the "newer dell repository manager" but it only offers drivers for dell poweredge?

What is going on here?

If you take a look at the video at https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-au/000177083/support-for-dell-emc-repository-manager-drm#download and cut into 1min14sec, you will notice more options that I have. So his DRM is Dell EMC Repository Manager which links me to what I use "Dell Technologies Repository Manager". The different being that I can only select from a list of PowerEdge servers.
