WILL DELL T5500 HANDLE NEW RTX 3070?
Hello, i have dell T5500 with two xeons x5660 (second cpu riser installed) and gtx 1050ti on board. I'm thinking about upgrading my workstation to nvidia RTX 3070, is this possible? My concern is mostly about PSU.

Good news, I've put MSI 2xOC RTX 3070 into my machine, and it worked like a charm. There is one thing if you have this riser for SAS drives, you have to uninstall it, because card is quite big and I couldn't close chasis. First I've got some beeps at start up, but after installing proper drivers from nvidia site its gone. I'll be testing this GPU for few weeks, and let you know if there will be any problems.

Your bios is NON UEFI so I think it wont work.

I just bought the Zotac RTX 3070 to use with my Dell T5500. After I installed it, the display card does not power up, no display at all, not sure why? The PSU >800W? Should have enough power for the card. Tomorrow I will take the display card back to the store where I bought it for a test, not sure if the card itself is the problem.

UEFI Cards dont support msdos vesa video mode 103 and so not only does F2 bios not work the card doesnt show anything on the screen until the os loads the driver for the card,
So I guess it depends on your definition of working.

@speedstep You are wrong, workstation loads properly with gpu on board and show bios loading at startup. I'll record it on youtube if you want before installing drivers also showed bios loading. So far it really speeds up my workflow and works with my apps properly. RTX rendering with VRAY is amazing on this thing.

Hello, I have the same setup, T5500, RTX 3070 (Zotac) and Oculus Quest 1. I haven't played games for awhile, since last Christmas? However, I can confirm that all worked fine since last time I used them. The only thing is the metal case of the workstation needs a bit of modification, like removing the blue plastic cards holder and cut out a bit of the soft metal on the case that interfere the installation of a thicker and taller display card but nothing major, you can't even see it from the outside and that won't affect the appearance of the computer.
I believe the HDMI output you refer to is actually built in from the display card, not on the Workstation. My RTX 3070 has at least one, HDMI port and the other 3 display ports.

Hi I have the same problem. And if you can answer our question it will be so nice.
Our machine is T5500 and need to install the RTX3070 or similar GPU to run the VR application (Oculus quest 1).
But we have heard that the machine need to have HDMI out put.
Have you change the out put of the T5500 to install the RTX3070?
