Cannot apply BIOS update A15 on Precision M6300
Hello everybody,
I have been failing to apply the A15 BIOS update (downloaded from here). I have checked MD5/SHA1/SHA256 checksums and they are all correct. I have tried from Windows XP and from a FreeDOS bootable USB. In all cases, M6300A15.exe crashes with an error 00000...00504 (WinXP) or 504h (FreeDOS).
Has anyone else tried this BIOS update? Did anyone try it after its last update, in June 4, 2020? What was your experience applying the update? Tell me, even if there was no problem and the update worked fine!
[Context: I am having problems with recent Ubuntu kernels (from linux-image-4.15.0.109 onward, up to 5.4.0-42-generic now). I updated, from 18.04 to 20.04, to avoid the problem, but it persists! Files /var/log/kern.log and /var/log/syslog are filled with kernel "tainted" messages (in the middle of several processes), to the point of becoming GBs and filling the disk. Also, systemd-journald (and sometimes rsyslogd) consume most of the CPU time, after these files become over 3 GBs. I want to file a bug report, but I have to have my BIOS up to date, first!]
Any help appreciated!

@Donuts123 Well done sir! I download your 'doctored' file this evening and applied it to one of my M6300 machines. The BIOS update worked flawlessly and returned revision 'A15' text on the Dell startup screen, I also went into the BIOS setup and checked all the various fields - everything was as expected.
However, there is one odd thing, Dell's download page for this file states 'Release date' as 04 Jun 2020, but in setup the 'BIOS Version' shows the date 06/05/2013?
I've two more of these M6300 machines, and when time permits I'll also flash them with your fixed 'A15' file.

@Donuts123 Can confirm that your truncated file works properly. An older thread, but though you might want to know and thanks so much for your efforts. <Profanity deleted. DELL-Admin> Dell, posting corrupted bios files?

@Donuts123 I know it's almost a year later, but might as well try asking, right?;
How did you find what the file should end on? Reason I'm asking is because updates A17 and A18 for the Precision T7500 have also been 'infected' by these SHA-256 signatures and thus are failing.
I have already systematically searched intensively online for a version that predates 2020 (as A18 was originally released somewhere in 2018 off the top of my head) but have failed finding one. Meaning I will have to resort to truncating the signature like you did. I just don't know what the original file should end on (and I assume it's different from the four bytes mentioned in your post).
For now I am going to compare the infected and truncated firmwares to determine how much data you truncated and truncate the same amount of data off of T7500A18.exe although I'm pretty sure that is not going to result in a succesfull flash either.
