Dell 3480 cell options etc

Question

I was looking at the Dell Precision 3480 I use and noticed what looks like a M.2 slot under the heat sink. Now I did not see any antenna cables but they may be stuffed under the heat sink assembly.

I also intend to grab some other parts as available such as putting a smart card sensor in the machine. Not sure how I can leverage that using a mobile phone or a card or whatever.

Other options are another project but given windows 11 can use an eSIM I was thinking why not out a microSD card reader in the machine.

So that you don't have to pay for another 'cellular device' every month (that you may or may-not use very much), most people just use WiFi on their laptops to connect to a HotSpot on their real cell-phones.

I am often outside standard service but I have looked at possible satellite offerings too

@HedgeFundManager​ ,   I am often outside standard service but I have looked at possible satellite offerings too That is fine. Pretty sure that would provide you with a Router or Gateway device. You would connect via ethernet-wire or WiFi.
