Dell Precision 5520 USB C Power Supply
Hi,
I am wondering if I could use the USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 port on my Precision 5520 for power supply???
And if the following two products are compatible?
Anker PowerCore+ 20100mAh USB-C
https://www.anker.com/products/variant/PowerCore%2B-20100mAh-USB-C/A1371012
and
PowerPort+ 5 Ports USB-C
Thank you.

@AR_5520 The Precision 5000 Series systems are designed for a 130W power source. But I haven't seen a power bank / battery pack capable of 130W either. There are some, including some by Dell, that are capable of 65W output, and the system will run from that type of power source, but you'll experience throttled performance even if you're not using the NVIDIA GPU because you're giving the system half the power it's designed to have available, and it will throttle performance before draining its internal battery in order to try to operate "sustainably". So while it would be possible to run that way, it may not be an acceptable experience.

USB C maxes out at 100W. That WILL NOT power a system like this one - you need 180W or more to run it properly.

That's baloney !!! My 5520 "system" is powered by this port from the docking station every day -- and there is nothing preventing it to be powered by a source lesser than 180W. Now to answer the question if this port can be used by a USB-C charger/battery pack -- IS A WHOLE ANOTHER STORY!!!
The reason that might not work is not because the power supply in question is less than 180W, OR the USB-C spec is at 100W. The reason is most likely that the charging process is controlled by the Thunderbolt Controller of the port, so if the power supply does not support Thunderbolt control protocol, the controller will not switch the port to a power-charting/receiving mode. By default this port can be used as USB-C power supplying mode.
So, when you are answering customers, please be technically honest about competitor's solutions and be also technically literate as much as possible. Thank you.

I think your numbers may be off a bit since the power adapter that came with the Precision 5520 is rated at 130w.
