Dell Precision 7730 Display via USB-C not working
I have the following setup
Laptop: Dell Precision 7730
Monitor: P3222QE
When I connect to the display via HDMI, the external display works. However, when I use the USB C cable which came along with the monitor, the display does not work.
I know the cable is not damaged because,
1. I am able to use the same cable to connect the same display to my Macbook Air (and even charge it).
2. I installed Dell Device Manager, connected display via USB-C and HDMI, opened Dell Device Manager and checked the box for matrix display. After this, I removed the HDMI cable and the external display worked for about 5 minutes. Now I do not even see the checkbox for matrix display
I would really like to use the display using USB-C and without having to buy a USB-C to HDMI converter. Would welcome any suggestions!

Did you ever resolve this as I currently have a similar issue, my 7730 is plugged into the dell docking station with the dual TB3 cable.
it sometimes connects to the display, other times it doesn't - seems to freak out either when dell update the firmware on the docking station or BIOS on the 7730
I end up just using the HDMI to the monitor

The specs suggests, this definately should work with USB-C. Every Dell precision 7730 has at least an Intel UHD Graphics 630 card integrated with a processor that supports 4k via USB-C/TB3/DP 1.2. The Dell P3222Q 4k monitor has a USB-C 3.2 gen 1/TB3/DP 1.4 port. That should be all you need to run a 4k monitor at 60hz. But regrettably, 4k is not always straight forward. Luckily, the Dell 7730 packs an additional HDMI 2.0 and mDP 1.4 port that supports 4k. The mDP on the Dell 7730 is actually a more of a DP 1.2 version with the integrated 630 card, cos the processor itself does not support 8k, thus you are limited to 4k60hz. DP 1.4 is actually 8k compatible, but the max resolution is limited by the Dells processor. Anyway, both the laptop and the monitor are in theory good for 4k60hz, through either USB-C, HDMI or mDP to DP. If the USB-C port does not do the trick, you still have two more options with either HDMI or mDP to DP to make this monitor work at 4k60hz. As for the USB-C, I'm suspecting the problem could be related to the difference between generations. The Dell 7730 could be an earlier generation than the monitor, and it woukd make sence the differences could cause some issues when drivers are updated on either the laptop or the monitor. Really annoying, and there's AFAIK no good way to resolve them. Backwards compability is not a high priority regrettably. USB-C/TB3/DP 1.2 and the wd19dc dock could be a great option if you'd like a one cable setup for both powerdelivery, monitor, keyboard, mouse & dongles.
