Hi Giusfre,

The tested graphics card for M6600 are listed below.

AMDFirePro M8900 Mobility Pro Graphics with 2 GB GDDR5
NVIDIA Quadro 3000M with 2 GB GDDR5
NVIDIA Quadro 4000M with 2 GB GDDR5
NVIDIA Quadro 5010M with 4 GB GDDR5

Dell doesnt recommend any upgrade apart from the tested once due to compatibility and hardware failures.

Yes the Precision M6600 came with the Quadro 5010 as a factory option.

For the upgrade in your machine, you should first take note of what GPU is currently installed.  If your machine came with an AMD GPU, you will need to purchase the Nvidia heatsink before proceeding.

Keep in mind that the Quadro 5010 is still a very old card, so keep your 3d performance expectations realistic.
The Geforce GTX 1650 Max-Q on a modern low end gaming laptop will still perform better in games than that 5010.

  • no. you can't. I saw this post two months ago. after a Long time strangling. I bought a K5000m. at the start everything looks good. while, I just realized I can open Steam or Norton only some time. most likely, it's doesn't work. when I try to use photoshop, I understand the problem. you cannot even assign the gpu for Photoshop. after install the k5000m you can only use intel hd3000 for Ps.

the Win10 can realize the K5000m automatically. I can install the newest drivers. while, the motherboard can not read the k5000m because of the Kapler structure. search for that, you will know.

Hi, Just a question but,

What about the AMD FirePro M6100? It works in these laptops as well, right?

(Please correct me if I'm wrong)

You are correct. I recently purchased one and upgraded the i5-2520M to an i7-2720QM (twice the cores/threads) and replaced the Quadro 4000M with a FirePro M6100. The only issue I currently have other than great performance (relative to age) is an inability to control screen brightness outside BIOS.

There are actually some really good AMD gpus that you could upgrade to like mentioned above there's the AMD FirePro m6100, but a much more powerful option is the AMD Radeon HD 7970m is probably the best gpu this laptop you could handle. Though, this card having only 2 gigs of vram if all you want is more vram nvidia cards will be the way to go (keep in mind that the Nvidia cards that have 4gb of vram aren't very close to being as powerful as the 7970m)
