Sorry, the Precision 7510 only has room for a MXM A card.  This limits you to the lower tier cards for each generation.

Quadro M600M
Quadro M1000M
Quadro M2000M

Quadro M1200 (modded drivers needed)
Quadro M2200 (modded drivers needed) (equivalent to a Geforce GTX 965M)

Any newer dell cards moved away from MXM over to the DGFF.

You will also need to replace the heatsink with the Nvidia compatible one.

Hi @JamesJAB1

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.

Could you please provide additional details on the heatsink and driver mod install required for a Quadro M2200 in my 7510?

Thanks.

First off, how comfortable are you with the idea of completely disassembling your laptop.  Second off if you do not know how to find the device ID for your GPU in the device manager, this is probably an upgrade you should pay someone to do for you.

Something to keep in mind is that upgrading to a Quadro M1200, M2200 or Geforce GTX 965M are all unsupported upgrades, so there is no guarantee that it will work.  Having said that, Make sure that the card is sold as a Dell compatible card.  Try to find a card that already has a Dell X-Bracket installed, because these are not easy to remove without damaging the card.

Dell part number for the heatsink assembly is 44PG6, you should make sure that the one you are buying has the thermal pads already.  I say this because I have no idea what thicknesses you would need to buy and cut yourself.

As for the drivers, you will need to install the new GPU first.  Then go into the system Bios and decide if you want to use the Switchable Graphics feature.  I personally turn this feature off on all of my machines when the option is available.  Now boot into windows, open the device manager and write down the Device ID for your new GPU.  Just remember that the Device ID will change based on your switchable graphics setting. (I just copy and paste the Device ID into a notepad file and save it.)

Next is the fun part.  Download the newest Nvidia published driver for your GPU.  Use your favorite file compression software to extract the contents of the installer file to a folder on your HDD.

Now you need to look at your device ID.  Here is the device ID for my Quadro P5000 installed into a Precision 7710.
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1BB6&SUBSYS_16DA1028&REV_A1
You need to look at yours and note the string of four characters that I have highlighted on mine.

Open the file "ListDevices.txt" and search for your four digit string of characters.  Make a copy of a line in that section that has the same GPU as yours, and modify it with data from your device ID. (also make a note of the whole 8 digit string after "SUBSYS_" from the donor line you will need it later)  Now look at the file name listed at the beginning of that block, and note it.  Save the file.

Go into the Display.Driver folder and look for the inf file that starts with the first four digits of the one you notated.
For example mine listed "nvdm.inf", so I needed to go into "nvdmwi.inf"
Open the .inf file in notepad.
Now search for the 8 digit string you noted (add a . in the center), and leave the search window up
Copy the line and modify it so all of the info matches the data from your device ID
click find next, and repeat this process for every line that returns a match.
save the file.

Now you need to turn off "Driver Signature Enforcement"
Hold shift while clicking Restart from the Star Menu.
Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings and click the Restart button.
When your computer restarts you’ll see a list of options. Press F7 on your keyboard to select Disable driver signature enforcement.

When you get back into windows open the folder where you extracted your Nvidia drivers and double click "setup.exe"

If you have done everything correctly, the drivers will install and you will have a functioning GPU.

Keep in mind that whenever you want to install a newer driver you will need to go through the whole mod process for the new driver package.

@JamesJAB1 I understand that the whole process is for a generation forward card (m1200m and m2200m), is it correct?
for the m1000m and m2000m, it is only necessary to change it as described and the system will recognize it without problems, is that correct?

As long as you are using a M1000M or M2000M card that is an actual dell part number, it will install without any driver modifications. If the M1000M or M2000M does not have a dell sticker with QR code and part number, you can expect to need modded drivers and may run into some compatibility issues because of a system specific or generic vbios on the card.

@JamesJAB1

Any idea what the gain would be swapping an AMD radeon M375 for an NVIDIA M2000M?

I have an issue with the output via the hdmi and mini dp ports, which others also seem to have.  I'm fairly certain that it's a driver issue and wonder if a swap would resolve it.

Everything works fine using a Dell E dock and driving 2 monitors from that, but the side ports only give a black screen.  Windows acknowledges the screens as existing displays....??

Any help would be appreciated.
