How do I connect a Logitech wireless keyboard with a USB dongle?

Hi,

I was recently issued a Dell Precision laptop running Windows 10 as well as a Logitech MK270 wireless keyboard and mouse, which came with a USB dongle . The Dell Precision has no USB connection.  I was also given an external Dell monitor taht I have successfully connected to my laptop.  The monitor does have a USB connection that fits my dongle.

How, if possible, can I connect/enable my wireless keyboard and mouse?  dongledonglemonitor connectionsmonitor connections

Hi,

The Dell Precision has no USB connection. Do you mean all USB ports are in use?

Do you have any Dell docking station in use? This will give you more USB ports.

Every Dell Precision model has a  few USB ports. What is your Dell Precision model number?

For example Dell Precision 7560 has two USB Type-C ports on the left and two USB Type-A on the right side. Your Logitech receiver dongle is Type-A.

Your display has two USB Type-A and ports one USB Type-B port.

To make the display USB Type-A ports working you need a USB cable where is Type-B and Type-A connectors. This kind of cable came with the display. Most of folks just throw it a way or loose.

Your Dell monitor seems to be a bit old because there is blue VGA and white DVI ports. Do you still have all the cables, which came with monitor?

Here is link to document from where you can find the different USB types.

It is a Precision 5560 model.  I misspoke when I said no "USB" connections -- I meant to say no "USB-A" connections.  I have attached photos of the left and right sides of the laptop.  It sounds like from your post I need an additional cable to connect from the monitor to my laptop for the keyboard/mouse to work right -- connecting the monitor to the laptop alone is not enough.  (Computer was issued to me -- I didn't buy it so maybe someone forgot to send something)

Hi,

One solution to your Logitech problem, when laptop doesn't have any free USB Type-A ports.

LOGI USB-C to A ADAPTER

To get the monitor USB downstream ports to function, you must plug the USB upstream cable into the monitor USB upstream port. The other end plugs into a USB port on the computer. Here is also the USB Type A in use. I don't know if there is version with USB Type-C. Again with extra adapter this could work like Logitech receiver.
