Precision 15 5550, SSD 4TB, double sided M.2 SSD issue
Hi everyone,
Looking forward to install a second M.2 SSD into my Precision 15 5550 and I saw there were extended issues with double sided SSD's on Dell XPS 13 line (saw that on someone's YouTube channel).
Did anyone tried a 4TB or bigger SSD on a Precision 15 5550? Do the double sided SSD's fit? There's a standoff now in the 5550 and XPS 15 9500 models and I'm inclining to believe these double sided SSD's might fit.
Also as Dell specifies a 2TB drive limit, do you have knowledge of any other limitation than this possible size issue?
Looking forward for your thoughts.
Thanks.

We tried reaching you on a private message asking for the Service Tag number to ascertain the warranty but did not receive a response. Please feel free to reply to the private message whenever you are available.

Hi Adrian,
Did you try to install the 4TB SSD?
What model?
Does it work?
Thanks!

There SHOULD be no limit, as you say, but so far a 4TB WD SN850X can take a clone, but never works inside. In fact, a wiped NX850 when installed inside makes recovery USB not boot properly, or minitool usb, etc. Both flash drives boot properly without the drive inside. I am suspecting even a power issue, the motherboard was never designed with 9W just for the SSD in mind, maybe? Ordered another SN850X just in case it is a dud (works fine on SSK external enclosure though), as well as a seagate and a crucial 4TB. Will report back.
Anyone else can report success or failure when tried a 4TB on a 5530?
