Precision 5490 - Junk!

What an ordeal this laptop has been! If you're reading this before you buy, DO NOT buy this junk. We've had this machine maybe 4 months now, and so far, the IR/Camera failed (Dell replaced the LCD panel). Great, back in business!

I wish!! Since then, the machine started to randomly shuts down, the fan was extremely loud, the power button does NOTHING. If the machine off, the only way to get it to start is setting the BIOS to "Start when opening lid". If you're in Windows and press the power button, nothing happens. No sleep, no hibernate, no shutdown. Hold the power button down for 20-30 second to kill power like any other machine I've ever used? Ha!! Nothing!!

With that, Dell came out and replaced the motherboard and fan. Same problems... So, since owning this machine, LCD replaced, Motherboard replaced, fan replaced, and multiple hours reloading the O/S and drivers and trying to troubleshoot with Dell Support. The real kicker is we bought 3-yr Pro Support with it and Dell refuses to exchange this junk lemon of a machine! $2500 4 months old machine, countless hours troubleshooting and reloads, downtime with repairs, and I can barely use the machine and cannot issue it to any of our employees.

We will definitely be looking at other vendors in the future. What a joke!!
