Precision 7520 Questions
Have a two week-old Precision 7520 Mobile Workstation, which I bought to replace my nine year-old M4400. Good choice, although it might be nice to have known that the system doesn't have the ambient light sensor for the display and the variable keyboard backlight versus the two-level one implemented here, but they're not deal-breakers! The display is more than bright enough at 45% brightness. I also disabled the onboard Intel video in the BIOS, and am running the Quadro 2200 video card full time.
Here's my questions:
1. I've noticed that my desktop wallpaper sometimes causes what looks like "artifacting," or burn-in, when opening something with a monochrome background like the W10 Start menu. This seems to go away after a few minutes of working on something else, or if you reboot the system; that was one of the reasons I turned the brightness down, and that seems to have helped a little. Has anyone heard of this happening on the business lines? I thought I saw something about the VOSTROs having problems a couple years back, but not these. And I don't want to have someone come out and replace the screen, only to have the problem continue. In other words, if someone is going to replace the screen, I want it to be fixed right the first time, or I'll live with the occasional "ghosting" as long as it won't harm the display.
2. I'm almost having a little "buyer's remorse" about the fact that I didn't go for the IGZO UHP display on this system. If it is determined that the display would need to be replaced to fix #1 above, could the display be swapped for the UHP during the service call (along with the required parts like the display back and the front bezel) for, say $350, and would that be covered under the remainder of my system's warranty? (The upcharge was like $270.00 when I purchased the system.) The rest of the computer is fine, and I just got this system set up to my liking, so I don't want to go through the motions of setting up again with a replacement!
3. I saw something about the Dell MobileConnect application, and that it DOESN'T appear to be compatible with the business-class hardware. Is there any chance that might change in the future? This computer has Bluetooth, and isn't locked-down with TPM or any of the other enterprise-management stuff; I just wanted a good computer without all the consumer "bloatware" which could take a knock or two and keep on trucking, just like my last one! That piece of software would be nice to have, since it appears to go beyond the Windows 10 offering of iPhone->PC connectivity of web pages via mobile Edge.

1. Can be subjective - but if it bothers you -- have the screen/system replaced.
2. No - they will not upgrade the screen on an existing system.
Can't speak to #3.
Since 1 and 2 are connected - and since you're looking for a screen upgrade - you may want to consider returning the system (you can do so within the first 30 days after shipment) and ordering a new system with the screen upgrade you want.
