Precision 7730 stopped working after "support assist" update

Hello everyone.

Yesterday I did an update from the "support assist" and all of a sudden my laptop stopped working. It does turn on but it arrives up to the starting screen where we enter the password. Then nothing happens, it stucks. I tried to do a system restore from the safe mode but it is failing all the time because of an unkonwn error 0x8000ffff.

Does someone know what to do?

Thanks in advance.

If the update that messed things up was to Bios 1.61.1 that happened to me too.  The Intel display driver is crashing with the new BIOS.  You can login as normal then hit WIN+SHIFT+CTRL+B and see your desktop.  The driver crashes immediately so it will appear locked up again.  If you have a dGPU (AMD or Nvidia) you can turn off integrated graphics in the bios & it should run okay on the dGPU.  Rolling back the bios to 1.53.1 will get everything working again until Dell gets this sorted out.

You can go to the support page, click on find drivers, then select categorie bios. Once you click on the bios. You have the option to select older bios versions. Next you download the exe and just execute.
It wil execute

for example https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/precision-15-7530-laptop/drivers

Thanks! The new BIOS update locked me out, too.

I took your advice and Disabled Switchable Graphics and Enabled Discrete Graphics Controller Direct Output Mode in the BIOS.

I was finally able to get to my desktop. I then rolled back the BIOS and confirmed I could still get into my desktop. So, I went back to the BIOS and reversed the changes I made previously.

Everything seems to be back to normal now. Just need to remember to avoid that new BIOS!

Again, thank you very much!

When an new bios update will come?

Thank you for your answer. The new Bios 1.61 was the problem. I will never do an update again from Dell Support Assist. This is the second time an update from Dell Support Assist creates problems to my laptop and I had to erase everything and install windows again. I will NEVER use it again.

Although I made a fresh windows install the problem remains. Can you tell me how can I turn off integrated graphics in the bios & roll back the bios to 1.53.1?
