Precision M6500 Graphics Card Upgrade

Recently purchased a Precision M6500 and doing some upgrades including i7-940xm cpu, 32gb ram 240gb ssd & Windows 11. I am also researching graphics card upgrades. It currently has installed a quadro fx2800m. Now I know I can upgrade to a quadro fx 5000m #D73P8 or possibly an nVidia GTX 7900 #XTP3N ?(can someone confirm), but does anyone know of any other compatible graphics cards.

Any help provided will be most appreciated.

TIA,

Mark

I am also considering upgrading the lcd screen from WXGA+(1440x900) to FHD+(1920x1200), so as long as I have the correct connector size there should be no problem doing this, correct?

Regards,

Mark

There could still be compatibility issues.  The system needs to recognize the EDID of the panel you install -- or you won't see anything on screen until the operating system begins to load (and there is also the possibility of a corrupt or blank display as well).

Choose a panel known to have shipped with this model line.

@m_fry No issues as long as it's the same connector.
