Looks like you know the lingo..... let me run some ideas past you.

  • Can you ping the IP of the printer?
  • Are the printer and PC IP's on the same subnet?
  • What is your IP (DHCP) source?
  • Since you can access the web-page of the printer (port 80), can you manually set the IP of the printer and send a test print (just a text file) to port 9100?
  • After manually setting an IP on the printer and a PC, connect a cable directly between the PC and the printer and try printing (to port 9100, text file)

Thanks Llynster, call me a network hack :emotion-1:

I didn't say in the original email but I have set a static IP for the printer and the PC's are DHCP'd and on the same subnet. I can ping the printer and the printer is outside the DHCP address space but here are some more details.....

DHCP/gateway   192.168.1.1

PC DHCP Address range     192.168.1.100 thru 192.168.1.120

Printer Address   192.168.1.130

Netmask for all 255.255.255.0

So far, I haven't been able to print anything, text, image, etc.

I have the printer also connected by USB to a computer as a shared resource but haven't tried printing locally to port 9100. I'll try that and see if it can do that. Thanks and please pass along anymore ideas. If I can printer locally I'll report back.

Not said, but I assume you CAN print using the local USB connection?

Are you sure the NIC jack is functional? Do you see any network activity lights flashing?

Just to test, you might want to set a PC to a static address in the same static range and direct connect a cable between the PC and the printer. Depending on the NIC technology used, you may need to stick a HUB between the two units.

Yes, it prints locally on the USB.  I started to try to change the port on the local setting when I realized I can't because it isn't IP (thought occurred about the same time I got an error when trying to modifying the USB Port settings in windows print properties.  I did try setting a PC with a static IP to no avail but haven't tried a direct connection. I'll try that. Thanks for tossing thoughts my way.
