1710 randomly reboots computer

This is a real weird one. I have a 1710 connected via IEEE-1284 bi-directional parallel cable to a computer running Windows XP Home. The printer is neither shared nor networked in any way. Sometimes, and I mean sometimes (but often enough), when I try to print, the computer reboots! It doesn't seem to matter what application I'm trying to print from. My first instinct is it has to do with the printer drivers, but there doesn't seem to be a driver version newer than 1.0.0 available. Has anyone seen this before or have any ideas as to what might be going on and how to troubleshoot it? Thanks for any help.
Michael

Hi

It could be afew things

1. What parellel mode is set in the bios ECP/EPP?

2. Does the windows xp have the setting to reboot on error messahes?

3. Switch to usb if you can

Hope this helps
